LEAMINGTON SPA [Leamington Spa General]
Opened in 1852 by the Great Western Railway, Leamington Spa station was completely reconstructed in 1938 and thus remains an important example of GWR "between the wars" art deco architecture. After privatisation it passed to Central Trains but was later transferred to Chiltern Railways who embarked on a programme of restoration and improvements. In 2008 the booking hall was rebuilt in 1930s style and the station paintwork was restored to GWR dark and light stone colours. Replica GWR running-in boards were erected on both platforms. I will add photographs of these improvements at a later date. The station is served by Chiltern Railways, Cross Country and London Midland trains. CRS code: LMS.
