DENHAM GOLF CLUB [Denham Golf Club Platform]
Denham Golf Club Platform was opened in 1912, some six years after the Great Western & Great Central Joint Railway opened for traffic.(In GWR parlance a platform enjoyed intermediate status between a station and a halt). The station retains three examples of the once ubiquitous GWR "pagoda" corrugated iron buildings and these are in fact the last three surviving examples on the network. As originally built, the platforms were staggered on opposite sides of the road bridge but at some point in history the up platform was rebuilt opposite the down platfom. This may explain why the two platform pagodas are dimentionally quite different from each other. The unique booking office pagoda building was severely damaged by fire in 2005 but has since been rebuilt, albeit in slightly different form to better suit its current role as a store for winter weather equipment. Operated by Chiltern Railways. CRS code: DGC.
